Mientras llegamos al fin del ciclo solar y de este año de cargas policiales brutales, tasas de paro altas, practicas abusivas por parte de bancos sin escrúpulos, sea lo que sea nuestra política personal, es evidente que el neoliberalismo capitalista no va parar el colapso ecológico que se acerca rápidamente.

En este clima puede parecer ingenuo invocar el simbólico para llevar a cabo un cambio radical, pero los eventos públicos como los rituales contribuyen a producir comunidades transitorias donde podemos experimentar nuevas maneras de relacionarnos.
Mientras los fundamentalistas atraen a una mayoría nutrida por religiones monoteístas que enfatizan la distinción entre el cuerpo y la mente, el nuevo paradigma ecosexual, influido por las filosofías feministas y pospornos, reconecta estos dos órganos y reintegra el animal humano dentro del ecosistema mundial. Un ecosistema que, si actuamos a tiempo, podría sostener la vida por las generaciones venideras.

El papel del chamán- travesti-transmaricabollo y puta es fundamental en la sociedad actual, porque representa el fin del dominio de lo masculino y del patriarcado. Ahora vamos a entrar en la época histérica, un tiempo que existe fuera de la historia contada por los machistas, homofobos , racistas y capitalistas que robaron las riquezas de la Tierra para crear el Imperio Neoliberal de la Autodestrucción.

En la época Imperialista del Occidente, los hombres travestidos de sacerdotes jugaron un papel importante en la condena del cuerpo, del sexo  y de la mujer como fuentes de pecado, tentación y lujuria. Ellos representaron el triunfo de la razón,
del patriarcado y el desencanto de la naturaleza como fuente de la vida. En los últimos siglos estas figuras hicieron un pacto con los hombres trajeados que predicaron la religión del dinero y del dominio de la naturaleza ahora feminizada y lista para ser violada y abusada.

Todos llevamos un chaman travesti dentro: yo he bautizado el mío con el nombre de "Geezerbird". También se llama la Duda. Es hora de poner la Duda en acción, y cuestionar los fundamentos de nuestra sociedad.
Estamos aquí ( en este mundo) para poner un fin al asesinato  de nuestro ecosistema, un fin al robo de terrenos de gentes de otros razas, un fin a la explotación de trabajadores en situaciones precarias. Con este ritual histérica vamos a dar un paso simbólico para sanarnos y para sanar el Banco Mundial.

As we approach the end of the solar cycle and the end of this long year of police violence, high unemployment and abusive practises by (spanish) banks which reclaim houses and continue to charge the evicted owners for their mortgages, whatever your political leanings its obvious that neo liberal politics and capitalism are not going to stop the ecological meltdown fast approaching. In this climate it may seem naive to invoke the symbolic to bring about change, but the production of new forms of community to which rituals and other public events contribute is highly necessary. While fundamentalists appeal to an unthinking majority raised on monotheistic religions which emphasise the difference between the mind and the body, the new ecosexual paradigm, influenced by feminist and post-porno philosophies reconnects them to reintegrate the human animal into a world ecosystem  which may, if we act in time, still sustain life for generations to come.

These notes from the Front are for all the lovers, fucked-up romantics and folks working to overturn this bullshit they call our Crisis, those who know we can´t go back to the days of prosperity and convenience, those who are trying to WAKE UP the sheep and move the capitalist crapfest along into the dustbin of history where it belongs.

As an exile from the former "favourite american colony"  the good old U.K., ( RIP the Pimp Bitch Margaret Thatcher) I can´t ignore my unenviable position as a `piece of imperialist scum rotting on these latin shores. So with all my rational, WASP preconceptions untact i will attempt to communicate the craziness that is living in the middle of the last days of the SPANISH DICTATORSHIP.

Yes in case you thought that fascist Franco handed over the reins in the seventies you were wrong- he fixed things so that the formerly illegal political parties who emerged in the "transition" would set up one of the most corrupt systems ever to masquerade under the name of democrasy in the history of the west.

But now the level of Indignation is such that the days of MPS with their  free rides, their " I -can- do -anything- because you shmuks-voted -me-in"attitude, their  huge pay-offs to banker friends and themselves (when they retire here , they get a state pension which is astronomical and a guaranteed position on the board of the construction companies/bank/utility service they have been selling their constituents out to ) are surely numbered.

The security bill is what is crippling this nation, the millions spent in police protection for the scum who are toeing the line  to stay in with the big boy economies of  the US, China and Germany while costs rise for the average spaniard and suicides become a daily occurrence as the situation gets more and more desperate,
And don´t think this dosen´t affect you because this situation will be coming to a cinema near you soon, as markets move from Europe to  "emerging economies" like Brazil ( selling off the rainforest is a lucrative business) , so take note because the non violent resistance being fought here will surely have to end soon as desperation moves in and things get worse.
I don´t even watch the news any more to see how they distort the figures - after the General Strike (14N ) called this past Wednesday where the streets were filled with people of all ages, a sea of silent protest that would burst into a scream when one of the helicopters which fly day and night over Valencia( the  city that was the last bastion and captial of republicanism in the first civil war)passed by. The circling helicopters are an ominous presence which remind me of  the tactics used by cowboys to keep the herd of cattle moving forward towards the   market for slaughter.

 Despite the threats of being sacked, or the fact that government workers had their wages docked by more than a days wage for joining in the strike, thousands and thousands were out in the streets marching for a dignified solution to the countries problems.

Unfortunately with a government whose only interest is in supporting big business and literally bleed any new initiatives dry with a level of taxation which is absurd its unlikely that their voices will be heard. Small businesses are closing left, right and centre unable to cope with the recent increase in VAT, and there are no subsidies to help them weather the storm.President Rajoy  seems hell bent on turning Spain into a third world economy of cheap slave labour for his multinational friends.

So we will be colonised just as the Spanish colonised America 500 years ago.

 It is   in this climate that the ever challenging queer theorist Beatriz Preciado  organised a series of conferences on Tropicamp : conceptualismos del sur, another salvo in the battle against anglo supremacy that is taking shape in the transfeminist movement here in Spain and all over Latin America. A debate that extends the dissident voices of cuir ecologists Beth Stephens and Annie Sprinkle

So the other day I went to Barcelona and was over the moon when  Beatriz asked me to do an impromptu show at the Museum of Modern Art (MACBA) as part of the conference, which included talks on Jack Smith, Helio Oiticica, Ney Matagrosso, the wonderful Museo Travesti de Peru, Grupo Chaclayo and many more. A real thrill to be asked to take part with such illustrious company!!

WAR MEMORIAL: an installation with bodies

There has been a war, fought for centuries, in the name of freedom, progress, equality, and other big ideals. We seem to be further than ever from achieving those ideals. There have been many victims of this war, some have gone down in history. As part of the project "Histeria Natural"(Natural Hysteria) I have decided to erect a monument to those species and cultures which have been destroyed in the name of progress and civilisation and have not been commemorated.Inspired by the work of Catriona Mortimer Sandilands (Queer Ecologies: Sex, Nature, Politics, Desire, 2010)

Hace siglos se desató una guerra, una guerra que llevamos tiempo luchando en nombre de la libertad, el progreso, la igualdad y otros grandes ideales. Parece que estamos más lejos que nunca de alcanzar esos ideales. Han habido muchas víctimas de esta guerra, algunos han pasado a la historia. Como parte del proyecto "Histeria Natural" he decidido erigir un monumento a las especies y culturas que han sido destruidos en nombre del progreso y la civilización y que no han sido conmemorados.

CANTAR/ ENCANTAR

Este viernes 8 a las 19h   vamos a empezar la parte publica del ciclo de "posesión simbólico de cuerpos corruptos" con un "taller" de Cantar/Encantar ( no hace falta ser buen cantante) dentro del proyecto Espai Cel Obert en el patio de la Facultad de Ciencias Sociales ( Tarongers s/n)


On Friday the public part of the cycle of "symbolic possession of corrupt bodies" begins with a choral workshop  as part of the project Espai Cel Obert. From 7pm on we´ll be in the patio of the Faculty of Ciencias Sociales (Av Tarongers )

Al amanecer celebré el ritual que abre el ciclo de "Histeria Natural: el En/canto" en un manantial despues de un viaje andando de 2 horas desde La Erreria bajo la luna llena. Dedicado a las especies extintas.

At sunrise I celebrated the ritual which would open the cycle of "Histeria Natural: el En/canto" ( Natural Hysteria: the en/chant/ment) at a spring in the mountains after a 2 hour walk from the Erreria under the full moon. Dedicated to extinct species.

ECOGENDER CHARM: the June offensive.

TODAY WE START THE CYCLE OF RITUALS WHICH WILL FORM PART OF THE "JUNE OFFENSIVE: THE ANIMALS FIGHT BACK" part of our investigations in Natural Hysteria. These events lead up to the meeting of the Rio summit (June 20-22nd)where the future of the planet will be decided and are a symbolic gesture aimed at causing a reconnection of world leaders, bankers and politicians with their "animal instincts" so they protect the biodiversity of their fellow species and all the people who live on the land for generations to come. Watch this space for updates on activities throughout the month. 

HOY EMPEZAMOS EL CICLO DE RITUALES QUE FORMAN PARTE DE LA "OFENSIVA DE JUNIO: LOS ANIMALES CONTRA-ATACAN" parte de nuestras investigaciones en la Histeria Natural. Estos actividades conducen a la reunión de la Cumbre de Río  (20 de junio al 22) donde decidiran el futuro del planeta ,y son un gesto simbólico dirigido a provocar la reconexión de los líderes mundiales, los banqueros y los políticos con su "insitintos naturales" para que protegen a  la biodiversidad de las especies compañeras y a todas las personas que viven en la tierra y  las generaciones venideras. ECOGENDER hits the Art School in Valencia!!

First of a series of reflections on our second Ecogender day( work in progress) :including ecosexuality, a ritual of radical hairdressing ( see above) , springtime cruising, the roots of ritual and theatre in entheogens, a review of the matriarchal society of the Mosuo, a talk by a representative of Greenpeace and... Sado Maso Ecosex.
Diana Pornoterrorista´s talk on BDSM practices with nature brought a fresh look to a form of queer ecosexuality which opens up a whole new area of investigation for urban queers who want to get in touch with the ecosexual side of their character but feel uncomfortable with the more sensuous and metaphorical part of the practise. She talked of giving her body up to the overwhelming power of the forces of nature, invoking the power of pain and endurance experienced in extreme forms of being with nature (which reminded me of many experiences of having to cross a huge tangle of thorny undergrowth in the midst of a forest) and mentioned the need to be careful since with nature there is no secure word. From many times when i have been falling down the side of a mountain I can relate to that. So be careful with yourself and BE RESPECTFUL with nature if you want to try out a bit of S and M with your local cactus of blackberry bush!!

Earlier in the day we presented Annie Sprinkle and Beth Stephens work on ecosexuality, the new paradigm which replaces the idea of Mother Earth with Lover Earth ( time we gave something back!!) and showed Lucia Egaña´s wonderful film of their ecosex Wedding to the Rocks in Barcelona last year
